Population

At the time of the 2006 National Census, the village's population was 1,198 in 344 households, when it was in the former Chukam Rural District (now Eshkik Rural District) of the former Khomam District of Rasht County.[3] The following census in 2011 counted 1,194 people in 392 households.[4] The 2016 census measured the population of the village as 1,000 people in 330 households.[5]

In August 2019, the district was separated from the county, in the establishment of Khomam County, which was divided into two districts of two rural districts each, with Khomam as its capital and only city. Forshki-ye Chukam was transferred to Forshki Rural District created in the new Chukam District.[2] In March 2023, the village of Bala Mahalleh-ye Chukam in Chukam District was elevated to the status of a city as Chukam.[6]
