Fightland (2024) is an upcoming professional wrestling event produced by Major League Wrestling (MLW). It will take place on September 14, 2024, at Center Stage in Atlanta, Georgia. It will be the sixth event in the Fightland chronology. The event will stream live on MLW's YouTube channel, while additional matches will be taped for future a TV special on BeIN Sports USA and YouTube.[1]
Fightland is a reoccurring event produced by Major League Wrestling (MLW) that was first held in 2018 as a television taping for MLW's weekly program, MLW Fusion.
On June 3, 2024, MLW announced that Fightland would take place on September 14, 2024, at Center Stage in Atlanta, Georgia.[2] [3]
The card will consist of matches that result from scripted storylines, where wrestlers portray villains, heroes, or less distinguishable characters in scripted events that built tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches, with results predetermined by MLW's writers. Storylines are played out at MLW events, and across the league's social media platforms.[4]
At the end of War Chamber, CozyMax (MLW World Heavyweight Champion Satoshi Kojima and Shigeo Okumura) and The Second Gear Crew (Matthew Justice and 1 Called Manders) would be attacked by the re-emerging Contra Unit (Mads Krule Krügger, Ikuro Kwon, and the Sentai Death Squad). While Krügger and the Sentai Death Squad had returned to MLW in February, Contra Unit as a whole hadn't been seen since its disbandment at War Chamber in 2021. Over the summer, Contra would expand to include the likes of Minoru Suzuki and MLW World Women's Featherweight Champion Janai Kai, continuing to feud with the SGC while setting sights on Kojima's world title.[5] [6] At the Never Say Never special, Contra Unit (Krügger, Suzuki, and Kwon) would defeat Kojima, his protege Akira, and Battle Riot VI winner Matt Riddle in a six-man tag team match, with Krügger pinning Akira who saved Kojima from further damage.[7] On August 19, MLW announced that Kojima would defend the MLW World Heavyweight Championship against Krügger at Fightland.[8]
