Fathi Razem (Abu Jihad) (ar|فتحی الرازم «البحریة») known as Fathi Al-Bahriya (born 1949, died 4 September 2017) was a Palestinian who was a member of the Palestine Liberation Organization and a member of the former Revolutionary Council of Palestine. Razem was one of the first people who became a member of Palestine Liberation Organization and contributed a lot to its development. He was also a member of Fatah National Liberation Movement.[1] [2]
Life and activities
Fathi Razem was born in 1949 in the city of Quds of Jerusalem. Along with Yasser Arafat, he was present in all phases of the Palestinian revolution and was one of the first to become a member of the Fatah National Liberation Movement. Razem was known as "Black Box" for Yasser Arafat. Razem participated in all the contemporary battles of the Palestinian revolution and was a member of the former Revolutionary Council of Palestine.[3] [4]
Prosecution
During the Second Intifada, Israel prosecuted Fathi Razem and accused him of trying to smuggle a weapons via ship known as Karin A for the Palestinian resistance. Since then, Razem traveled between Arab countries and their capitals to hide from the Israelis.[1] [2]
Death
Fathi Razem died due to a serious illness in the United Arab Emirates on Monday night, September 4, 2017. His body was taken to Jordan for burial.[5]

- Ramallah, Palestinian Authority: Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian Authority, on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, after the death of Major General Fathi Razem, offered his deepest feelings and condolences to the family and relatives of Abu Jihad and all the friends and peoples of the Palestinian. Mahmoud Abbas also praised the good qualities of the deceased who sacrificed his life in defense of the rights and independence of the Palestinian people.[6]
- The Fatah movement, on its part, offered its most sincere condolences, sorrow and sympathy to Major General Fathi Razem and emphasized that the commitment of him and loyalty of his pure soul will remain eternal and they will continue his path and all the martyrs, until the achievement of freedom and independence. Osama al-Qawasemi, the spokesman of the Fatah movement, emphasized that "he lived for Palestine, its flag, and its soil, and he was a staunch Fatah member, and he was a sincere person for his homeland and his people, and he was a selfless and tireless fighter during his long struggle over five decades".[3] [4]
