Fallout is an upcoming Hong Kong action disaster film produced and directed by Anthony Pun, and also produced by and starring Andy Lau. Touted as the first nuclear radiation disaster-themed blockbuster production from Hong Kong, the film revolves around an accidental radioactive leak in the city which puts the lives of 7 million citizens at risk.
Currently in production, Fallout is expected to wrap up production by the end of 2024[1] and also for theatrical release within the year.[2] [3]
An accidental nuclear radioactive leak in Hong Kong puts the lives of 7 million citizens at risk. In order to handle this catastrophic disaster, nuclear radiation expert Fan Wai-lap (Andy Lau) is invited to join in on an emergency crisis response task hosted by Acting Chief Executive Cecilia (Karen Mok). Firefighting Station officer Lai Kit-fung (Bai Yu) and his team are also tasked to serve in the frontline of the disaster.
News about the production of Fallout came out mid-production on 17 June 2024, where Edko Films officially released a teaser poster which also states the film's release date within 2024[2] despite that Variety reports that the film is expected to complete its production by the end of the year.[1] During the same day, producer Bill Kong alongside cast members Bai Yu and Louise Wong promoted the film in a film presentation event at the 26th Shanghai International Film Festival, where Bai and Wong revealed their roles as firefighters in the film. Producer and star Andy Lau also appeared via a pre-recorded video talking about his role as a nuclear radiation crisis expert as well the film's production of disaster spectacles and themes of humanity.[4]
On 19 July 2024, Karen Mok revealed that she had to memorise many professional terms for her role in the film and will start working on promotions for the film by the latter half of the year.[5]
Fallout is set for theatrical release in 2024.[2] [3]
