FC Matanzas is a Cuban professional football club based in Matanzas. Its home stadium is the 1,000-capacity Estadio Calimete.[1] It currently plays in the Campeonato Nacional.[2]

History

Their greatest achievement was beating Real Madrid CF in 1934. Their top scorer is Yunior González Torres from Jagüey with 132 goals. FC Matanzas was relegated to the Torneo de Ascenso in 2009-10, until 2013 they were invited to participate in the Campeonato Nacional. Later they would play in the Torneo de Ascenso again until 2017 when the second category was cancelled in 2018. In 2019, they returned to the highest level of Cuban football in the group stage format, where they finished 5th in the group.

In 2019-20, it achieved the 3rd in its history for the accumulation of points in the opening and closing.
