Eufòria (Catalan for "Euphoria") is a Catalan music talent show. It premiered on March 3, 2022, on the television channel TV3.[2] There are 16 participants and the final prize is a record contract, sing with Miki Núñez in the Summer Song from TV3, and participate in the album of La Marató de TV3.[3] [4]

Production

Eufòria is produced by TV3 and the production company Veranda TV, with the collaboration of the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya.[5] The show is presented by actress and presenter Marta Torné and singer Miki Núñez.[6] The judges of Eufòria are actors Elena Gadel and Marc Clotet and trap singer Lildami.[7] [8]

In December 2022, during Eufòria Dance, Marta Torné announced that auditions for Eufòria 2 had already taken place.[9] At the same time, she also announced that she would continue to be the presenter of the second season.[10] A month later, in January 2023, TV3 announced that Miki Núñez would also present the show alongside Torné.[11] In February 2023, it was announced that Elena Gadel and Lildami would continue to be judges for the second season and that Marc Clotet would exit the program and that he would be replaced by Carol Rovira, the interpretation coach during the first season.[12]

Auditions

The audition process for the first season, consisted of two parts: in the first one, 1,500 candidates participated and 90 of them were chosen for the second one (20 more than it was initially planned).[13] The second part of the auditions happened in the span of three days and during these, the candidates were tested by the coaches. At the end of the first day, 40 participants remained, after the second day only 25 and on the third day, the 15 finalists were chosen (this was changed and on the first episode, there were 16 finalists).[14] [15]

For the second season, there were 2,300 candidates, more than the first season, but only 72 reached the final stage of the auditions.[16] The final stage was streamed in Twitch by Nadine Romero. The last final stage was split in two parts and both were broadcast on TV3. These two episodes were used to choose the 16 contestants of the second season.[17]

Dynamic

Season 1

On TV3, every Friday airs a new episode, in which every singer has a solo song and also has to do the choir voices of other participants. These choir voices are analysed by what is called the "musical VAR", thanks to this, the musical director can nominate a singer who is not. On the other side, the coaches can rescue a participant who has been nominated by the musical director or by the judges.[18] Although the judges can nominate as many contestants as they want, after the performances, the nomination by the musical director and the saves by the coaches, there can only be 2 contestants nominated. To save one, the public present on set votes and one of them will continue another week and the other will leave the talent show.[19] Since the 6th gala, the audience from home can also vote for the contestant they want to eliminate.[20] Starting in the second gala, the judges can make a singer the favourite, who sits on the chair. Although, the judges can make favourite another participant, meaning that the other one is beaten. At the end of the night, the singer sitting on the chair is the favourite, and for that, he cannot be nominated by the musical director and also gets the privilege of choosing who will do his choir voices in the next gala.[21]

During the rest of the week, the singers are helped by the coaches: Jordi Cubino (musical director), Daniel Anglès (voice), Albert Sala and Aina Casanovas (choreography) and Carol Rovira (interpretation).[22]

During the 6th gala, it was announced that the next one would be a rematch gala, in which one of the eliminated contestants would be able to coke back to the talent show. This decision will be up the public and audience, because the jury and coaches will be able to give their opinion but they won't be able to make any decision.[23]

Season 2

The dynamic for the second season is the same as the first one, but to avoid the danger zone, contestants only need two positive votes, instead of three. For the second season, coaches Jordi Cubino (musical director), Daniel Anglès (voice) and Albert Sala and Aina Casanovas (choreography) will continue to help the contestants and Paula Malia will be the new interpretation coach, replacing Carol Rovira, who is now one of the judges. Pianist Clara Luna will also help as voice coach.

For the third gala, it was announced that there would be double elimination, the first elimination would take place at the beginning and the other at the end of the episode as always. The first elimination would be contested between the two contestants who finished in the danger zone during the second gala.[24]

For the fifth gala, the roles were reversed. The public, through voting, decided which contestants were to remain on the program and which ones went to the danger zone. The five with the most votes, would be automatically saved, and the most voted would be the favourite of the night, and the other four contestants would go to the danger zone. On their side, the musical VAR was able to save a contestant and the judges were the ones to choose the eliminated of the night.[25]

During Gala 6, it was announced that the next one would be a rematch gala and that two contestants would come back.[26]
