The Emu River is a perennial river for most of its length, located in the north-western region of Tasmania, Australia. It was named by Henry Hellyer, an early explorer who saw emu tracks in the vicinity.[1]
The river rises below Companion Hill (853m (2,799feet))[2] near Saint Valentines Peak (1107m (3,632feet)),[3] passes through Companion Reservoir,[4] and flows generally north into Emu Bay at Wivenhoe.[1] The river descends over its 52.2km (32.4miles) course.[5]
