Edward Burch (1730–1814) was an English artist and Royal Academician known for gem engraving and sculpture.[1] [2]
Burch first worked as a waterman on the Thames. Self-taught miniaturist and seal-engraver.[3]
In 1788 Burch was appointed engraver to King George III and the Duke of York. He also modelled wax portraits for James Tassie and for Josiah Wedgwood.[4]
Burch served as the librarian of the Royal Academy of Arts from 1794, until 11 February 1814, just seven days before his death on the 18 February 1814.
