Echis carinatus sinhaleyus explained
Echis carinatus sinhaleyus is a venomous viper subspecies endemic to Sri Lanka.[1]
Common names
Sri Lankan saw-scaled viper.[2]
Known as (Sinhala; Sinhalese: වැලි පොලඟා)[3] (can also be spelt as) by the Sinhala speaking community. The vernacular name translates as "sand viper".
Geographic range
It is found in Sri Lanka.[1]
The type locality is described as "Chavakachcheri, Jaffna Peninsula" (Northern Province, Sri Lanka).
