Prasoxylon excelsum is a tree in the family Meliaceae. The specific epithet Latin: [[:wikt:excelsus|excelsum]] is from the Latin meaning 'tall'.
The tree grows up to 36m (118feet) tall with a trunk diameter of up to 80cm (30inches). The sweetly scented flowers are cream-coloured or pinkish white. The fruits are brown when ripe, roundish to pear-shaped and measure up to 50NaN0 in diameter.
Prasoxylon excelsum is found in Sri Lanka, Nepal, northeast India, southern China, Indochina, and throughout Malesia and Papuasia. Its habitat is rain forest from sea-level to 1000m (3,000feet) elevation.
