Durston is an English toponymic surname. The name was first recorded in 1641 in A Somerset Petition of 1641. The name is taken from the village of Durston in Somerset.[1] It is derived from the English, Old (ca.450-1100);: deór-tún|as=y, a combination of "deer" (English, Old (ca.450-1100);: deór) and "fenced enclosure" (English, Old (ca.450-1100);: tún). The most likely interpretation is "deer park".[2]
