Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune (DPU) is a deemed university located in Pimpri, Maharashtra.[2] The university has been awarded an A++ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).[3]

History

Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune, established on January 11, 2003, including Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, was granted the status of a deemed-to-be university[4] under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956 by the Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development.[5]

P. D. Patil serves as the chancellor of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune,[6] with Bhagyashree Patil as the pro-chancellor and Yashraj Patil as the trustee and treasurer.[7] Patil has contributed to the university's development and, in 2024, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 36th Pune Festival,[8] presented by Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar.[9]

Rankings

According to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024, published by the Ministry of Education, DPU ranked 5th in the Dental category, 11th in the Medical category,[10] and 44th among universities in India.[11] The university achieved a score of 64.10 in the Medical category.[12]

Awards and recognition

The university received the QS I-GAUGE Diamond Rating Certificate on July 6, 2023.[13]
