Dombeya burgessiae, the rosemound, is a widespread species of flowering plant in the family Malvaceae.[1] It is native to seasonally dry areas of tropical Africa, and has been introduced to Pakistan, Assam, and Trinidad and Tobago.[2] A variable shrub or multi-stemmed tree from tall, it is used for its fiber (for ropes and baskets), wood (bows and tool handles), its edible pith, and for friction sticks to make fire.[3] It is occasionally planted as an ornamental.[3]
