Doina Gherman (born 29 November 1982) is a Moldovan member of Parliament. She is a women’s rights activist who works to empower women survivors of domestic and gender-based violence, while also working to improve women's rights and political leadership. Gherman has also had a position on the Human Rights Committee of the Parliament.[1] [2] [3]

Education

Gherman can speak four languages, English, French, Russian, and Romanian[4] and her first degree was in foreign languages from Balti State University. Her masters degree is in management and it was awarded by the Academy of Public Administration of Moldova. She has worked for her country's customs service and she has taught communication and branding at the Institute of Sciences in Education before she was elected to parliament.[2] [5]

Works in Parliament

Gherman serves as the head of the Parliament's commission on foreign policy and European integration in the Republic of Moldova, indicating her pivotal role in shaping the country's foreign policy, particularly regarding European Union integration. Her affiliation with the pro-European Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) underscores her commitment to closer ties with the European Union and the promotion of European integration.[6]

She was born in 1982 in Chișinău.

Awards

She was awarded the International Women of Courage Award in 2022.[7]
