Dipterygonotus marisrubri explained

Dipterygonotus marisrubri is a species of marine ray-finned fish, first described in 2014.[1] It is endemic to the waters of the Red Sea. This species can reach a standard length of . Until 2024, it was classified as Emmelichthys marisrubri until a phylogenetic analysis suggested a transfer.[2]

Etymology

The specific name marisrubri refers to the Latin Latin: maris, sea; and Latin: rubrus, red, alluding to its type locality of the Red Sea.[3]
