Diospyros ferox explained

Diospyros ferox is a tree in the family Ebenaceae. It grows up to 20m (70feet) tall. Inflorescences bear up to three flowers. The fruits are oblong-ovoid to round, up to 3cm (01inches) in diameter. The specific epithet Latin: [[:wikt:ferox|ferox]] is from the Latin meaning 'fierce', referring to the rusty bristles on twigs, leaves, flowers and fruits. Habitat is swamps and mixed dipterocarp forests from sea-level to 900m (3,000feet) altitude. D. ferox is endemic to Borneo.
