Diospyros alatella explained

Diospyros alatella is a tree in the family Ebenaceae. It grows up to 33m (108feet) tall. The fruits are solitary, up to 4.5cm (01.8inches) in diameter. The specific epithet Latin: alatella is from the Latin meaning 'with small wing', referring to the fruit. Habitat is forests from sea level to 1200m (3,900feet) altitude. D. alatella is endemic to Borneo and confined to Sarawak.
