Kanyakumari Diocese is one of the 24 dioceses under the Church of South India. The diocese was constituted on 2 June 1959. The South Travancore Diocese was bifurcated into the Kanyakumari Diocese and the South Kerala Diocese in 1959. and the was the first Bishop of the Kanyakumari Diocese.[1]

Present status

The diocese has a membership of 4,91,762 people and has assets, funds and savings of about Rs. 600 crores. The diocese has managed various mission hospitals, schools and colleges built in the early 1800s.
