Die, My Love is an upcoming American dark comedy horror film directed by Lynne Ramsay and co-written by Enda Walsh. It is an adaptation of the 2017 novel by Ariana Harwicz about a new mother in the French countryside who develops postpartum depression and enters psychosis. The film stars Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson, with the former producing through her production company Excellent Cadaver. It is Ramsay's first film since You Were Never Really Here (2017).
In a farmhouse on the Montana countryside, a woman has mental health issues as her marriage breaks up.[1]
In November 2022, Jennifer Lawrence confirmed she would star in an adaptation of Ariana Harwicz's novel Die, My Love with Lynne Ramsay directing from a screenplay she co-wrote with playwright Enda Walsh.[2] Ramsay approached Walsh to write the first draft of the script before she wrote the second and final draft.[3] In July 2024, Robert Pattinson was in talks to join the film, produced by Martin Scorsese and Andrea Calderwood alongside the Excellent Cadaver team of Lawrence and Justine Ciarrocchi.[4] In August, LaKeith Stanfield, Sissy Spacek, and Nick Nolte joined the cast.[5] [6]
Production began in and around Calgary, Canada, on August 19, 2024, and wrapped on October 16, 2024.[7] [8] Filming was originally set to take place in 2023 before being postponed due to the Hollywood strikes. Cinematographer Seamus McGarvey shot the film in 35mm and 1.33:1 Academy ratio, taking inspirations from Roman Polanski's Repulsion (1965) and Rosemary's Baby (1968).[9] [10]
In April, Ramsay said she was writing music with George Vjestica, for which Lawrence may sing.[11]
