Devanga Jagadguru Maharaj Sri Sri Sri Dayanandapuri Mahaswamiji is a leader of the community[1] and abbot of Gayathri Peedam (monastery) Hemakooda - Hampi, Karnataka, India.[2] [3] [4] [5]

Dewangga is a common name in Indonesia, Malaysia and Jakarta. King Dewanga ruled Selangor, Malaysia showing the influence of dewanga in Asia.[6]

Devanga people are also called Jadaru or Jada (great man), Dendra, Devare, Deva, Semiyan and Sedam.[7]

Lathigar is a sect of Devanga. Word Lathi in Kannada means baton in English. Baton means sengol in Tamil. Lathigar means baton holder.
