Devinder Kumar Sehrawat is an Indian politician and former member of the Sixth Legislative Assembly of Delhi of India.[1] [3] [4] [5] He has represented the Bijwasan constituency[6] [7] of New Delhi being as a member of The AAM AADMI PARTY.

Devinder Sehrawat was a boarding school student and the illustrious academician Late Shri Hari Dang, Padmashree was at the helm of the School as the Principal. He was the president of the All India Public School Association and a renowned mountaineer1965 Indian Everest Expedition.
His grooming as a potential leader commenced in the school where he was a avid debater, member of the school basket ball team, played lead role in the theatre function during the silver jubilee celebrations of the school in the year 1980 and was appointed as house Captain and School Prefect.
Devinder Sehrawat was selected for armed forces training at iconic joint defence service training institute National Defence Academy, https://nda.nic.in/, where he was a cadet appointment of the academy, captained the 'NDA Basket Ball Team' and was awarded the book prize for standing first amongst his course in 'Overall Common Service Subjects' at end of 4th term. During military training at Indian Military Academy,Dehradun. He was awarded the 'Jammu and Kashmir Medal' for standing first in 'Tactical Training' amongst his course, he held the coveted appointment of Academy Under officer for two terms during the final term of the training.
On commission he served in the insurgency infested area of Arunachal Pradesh along the Burmese border - Tirup District at Laju, wherein as a 2nd lieutenant he led a patrol which apprehended insurgents of the Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland, NSCN (Khaplang Faction). These insurgents were responsible for the Phek Bank robbery, one of the major insurgent actions during that period. He served in Jammu and Kashmir for three tenures, including service in the highest battle field of the world-'Siachen Glacier' In staff appointment at Army Head Quarters he was appointed to perform the duty of importing spares and armaments for the army in close coordination with Indian embassies abroad. He was awarded Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card for dedication to service.
Colonel Devinder Sehrawat was one of the prominent persons who marched on 31 Jan 2011, in the first rally of India Against Corruption Movement in Delhi in one of the biggest ever public outpouring against corruption by citizens in India after the 'JP Movement'. Protest march against corruption were held in several cities in India demanding Lokpal Bill. It was during this rally that the decision about inviting Anna Hazare to lead the movement was taken and the seeds of the movement were sown
He was one of the founder member of the Aam Aadmi Party, AAP and member of its first Executive Committee of the National Council, on formation .
He worked as social and environmental activist.[8] [9] [10] [11] [12] To secure the environment he took up Vide PIL on SDMC for waste collection and cleaning of Airport Area.[13]
He organised several Maha Panchayats of farmers and was instrumental in inclusion of several pro farmer provisions in the right to fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement act 2013.
He proposed and worked to get the Delhi Airport area infrastructure development plan and contributed towards decongestion, greening and infrastructure upgradation by his efforts.
He has been an activist in preservation of the ancient heritage of Delhi.
He organised a mass moment to prevent encroachment in Airport Area by over 2,500 Burmese immigrants.[14]
He tookup the matter of safety of School children of Delhi on death of 2 young children one in Govt School Kapashera and the other in Ryan School in Vasant Kunj.[15] [16] He filed public interest litigation[17] in High Court of Delhi against the negligence of the school authorities and Govt. officials and got a standard operating procedure issued by the court for the safety of approx. 50 Lakh school children of Delhi[18] [19]
While holding the position of secretary of Delhi Gramin Samaj helped the farmers.[20]
He was a part of the protest against the Haryana government's move to acquire around 3,800 acres at Bawal for industrial development[21] and got highlighted for the social cause on TOI in march 2013.[22]
He tabled the Motion in support of OROP in Delhi legislative Assembly on 25 June 2015.[23]
Devinder Kumar Sehrawat was born in Delhi. His father's name is Ram Prakash Sehrawat. He attended the IIM University of Ahemdabad and Jawaharlal Nehru University and attained Master of Science and Bachelor of Science (National Defence Academy). Certificate of proficiency in French Language, Government of India, School of Foreign Languages, Lodhi road Delhi. Diploma in Materials Management (Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya Jabalpur), Advance Diploma in Advance Materials Management, Technical Stores(Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya Jabalpur), Devinder Kumar Sehrawat served in the Indian Army and after 20 years of service to the Nation as an Army officer, took premature retirement from the rank of colonel.
Started as grassroot worker and held panchayats in the villages of Delhi to know the problems of rural population.[24] [25] Worked as a journalist to highlight the plight of the rural population of Delhi and wrote columns in newspapers. Launched an agitation against the provisions of the Land Acquisition bill of UPA government and was instrumental in addition of several progressive points in the final bill.Founder member of Aam Aadmi Party, contested Lok Sabha election[26] in 2014 and secured second position in polls with approx. 4 Lac votes. Resigned from Aam Aadmi Party and sacrificed the office of MLA when Arvind Kejriwal supported the JNU gang and gave statements after Pulwama incident which were against Indian Army and nation's integrity. He joined BJP in May 2019 during Delhi leg of the Lok Sabha elections and actively campaigned for BJP,[27] resulting in second highest margin in Bijwasan constituency [28] amongst the 10 Vidhan Sabha Constituencies under South Delhi Parliamentary seat.
