Deport is a city in Lamar and Red River counties in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 550 at the 2020 census.[3]
The city has the name of one Colonel Dee Thompson, a pioneer citizen.[4]
Deport is located primarily in Lamar County. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.1 square miles (2.9 km2), all land.
The climate in this area is characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters. According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Deport has a humid subtropical climate, abbreviated "Cfa" on climate maps.[5]

The average household size was 2.28 and the average family size was 2.82.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 21.3% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 22.8% from 25 to 44, 22.0% from 45 to 64, and 26.7% who were 65 years of age or older. Deport is served by the Prairiland Independent School District.[7] [8]
The Texas Education Code specifies that all of Lamar County as well as the Red River County section of Prariland ISD are in the service area of Paris Junior College.[9]
