Denmark was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1993 with the song "Danish: [[Under stjernerne på himlen]]|i=no", composed by Tommy Seebach, with lyrics by Keld Heick, and performed by the Tommy Seebach Band. The Danish participating broadcaster, Danish: [[DR (broadcaster)|Danmarks Radio]]|i=no (DR), organised the Danish: [[Dansk Melodi Grand Prix]] 1993|i=no in order to select its entry for the contest. This was Seebach's third Eurovision appearance, having previously represented and with Debbie Cameron.
Danish: [[DR (broadcaster)|Danmarks Radio]]|i=no (DR) continued to use the Danish: [[Dansk Melodi Grand Prix]]|i=no to select its entry for Eurovision. The broadcaster held the national final on 3 April 1993 in Odense, hosted by Keld Heick and Kirsten Siggaard. It was also broadcast alongside Greenland's KNR-TV.[1]
Ten songs competed in the contest and the winner was selected over two rounds of voting. In the first round, a nine-member jury selected the top five songs to advance to the second round of voting, where the winner was selected solely by a public televote. The results of the public televote were revealed by Denmark's regions and led to the victory of Tommy Seebach Band with the song "Danish: [[Under stjernerne på himlen]]|i=no". This was Seebach's seventh appearance at Danish: Dansk Melodi Grand Prix|i=no, having previously won twice (and with Debbie Cameron) as well as placing 2nd, 4th, 2nd, and 4th . The show was watched by 1.9 million viewers in Denmark, making it the most popular show of the week.[2]

Seebach performed 5th at the Eurovision Song Contest 1993 in Millstreet, Ireland, following and preceding . "Danish: Under stjernerne på himlen|i=no" placed 22nd of the 25 competing countries, receiving a total of 9 points.[3] This relegated Denmark from competing in the Eurovision Song Contest 1994, after placing in the bottom 6 entries.
The contest was shown on DR TV, with commentary by Jørgen de Mylius, and on radio station DR P3, with commentary by Jens Michael Nielsen.[4] The contest was watched by a total of 1.5 million viewers in Denmark.[5]
