Dallas Brodie is a Canadian politician and lawyer who has served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia (MLA) since 2024. A member of the Conservative Party of British Columbia, she was elected to represent the riding of Vancouver-Quilchena.[1]
Dallas Brodie was born and raised in Vancouver-Quilchena, British Columbia, where she attended Shaughnessy and Quilchena Elementary Schools before graduating from Point Grey Secondary School in 1980. She pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Political science at Princeton University, followed by further studies at La Sorbonne in Paris and the University of Toronto's Faculty of Law.[2]
Brodie began her legal career at the Vancouver offices of Ladner Downs and Stikeman Elliott, where she worked in corporate and securities law. In 1992, she founded her own legal aid practice focused on defending young offenders, a role that reflected her commitment to justice and community advocacy.
In addition to her legal work, Brodie earned a Broadcasting Journalism certificate from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). She worked in broadcasting for seven years, including roles at CBC TV, CKNW radio, and as the host of a CITR-FM radio at the University of British Columbia. Her show, The Flip Side, discussed conservative issues and offered alternative viewpoints.
Brodie later served as an Arbitrator for the BC Residential Tenancy Branch for a decade before stepping away from her career to focus on raising her twin daughters.[3]
Brodie first ran as the Conservative Party of British Columbia candidate in the 2022 Vancouver-Quilchena by-election. She placed fourth, receiving 6.60% of the vote, with BC Liberal leader Kevin Falcon winning the seat.[4] [5] [6]
In the 2024 provincial election, Brodie again contested the Vancouver-Quilchena seat, successfully defeating her opponents to become the Member of the Legislative Assembly.[7] Her campaign emphasized her legal and community experience, focusing on issues such as housing affordability, reducing bureaucratic barriers for small businesses, and advocating for conservative family values.
Brodie lives in Vancouver-Quilchena with her twin daughters. She is an active member of two congregations, Second Church of Christ and St. John's Vancouver, and credits her faith and family as central to her values and political philosophy.
Throughout her career, Brodie has remained actively involved in her local community. She volunteered at the Willingdon Youth Detention Centre early in her legal career and continues to be a member of multiple community organizations. Her work reflects her commitment to supporting youth and advocating for social justice.
Brodie has also been a vocal supporter of the State of Israel and participated in the March of the Living program in Poland through the Canada-Israel Committee. Her advocacy for Israel has been a consistent part of her public and private life.[8]
