It lies along State Route 99, north of the city of Darien, the county seat of McIntosh County.[3] Its elevation is above sea level.[4] It has a post office with the ZIP code 31304.[5]

A post office called Crescent has been in operation since 1890.[6] The community was named after the crescent shape of a nearby coastal inlet.[7]
