Coulmer is a commune in the Orne department in north-western France.
The commune is made up of the following collection of villages and hamlets, Le Chêne, Le Pommeret, La Faudinière, Les Portes and Coulmer.[2]
The Commune is one of 30 communes that make up the Natura 2000 protected area of Bocages et vergers du sud Pays d'Auge.[3] The site is 21,541 hectares in size and consists of a well-preserved wooded landscape that hosts three protected beetles, the European stag beetle, the great capricorn beetle and the Hermit Beetle.[4]
The commune has two rivers flowing through its borders, The Touques and the Maure. In addition it has 5 streams running through it, La Noe, the Bouillant, the Bouillonnay, the Launay and the Menil.
