Conopholis alpina explained

Conopholis alpina, known as the alpine cancer-root, is an achlorophyllous (lacking chlorophyll), root parasitic plant (holoparasite).

It is native to Northern Mexico, and to the Southwestern United States in New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Texas.[1]
