Club Atlético Vélez Sarsfield de San Ramón or simply known as Vélez de San Ramón, is a football club from the city of San Ramón, province of Santiago del Estero, Argentina.[1] It was founded on August 28, 1923. Its main activity is soccer and it is affiliated with the Liga Santiagueña de Fútbol. Currently participating in the Torneo Regional Federal Amateur.[2] [3]
Vélez Sarsfield San Ramón was born on August 28, 1923, and among its founders was Francisco Dominguez, uncle of Carlos Paz, current president of the institution. The family bond that unites the head of Vélez with the institution had more ramifications: his grandmother María Dominguez was also president, as was his father, also named Carlos Paz.
Its first years of competition were in the defunct Liga Bandeña, then being part of the Cultural Football League. Later, with its new name, the Santiagueña Football League today.
In 2008 he achieved passage to the First Division of the LSF in a First Division B that left him undefeated. Two years later he began to participate in the official AFA tournaments, playing for the first time in a national competition in the Torneo del Interior 2010.
On February 15, 2015, they beat Club Libertad de Concordia, Entre Ríos, 2–1 on aggregate, in one of the finals of the Torneo Federal B 2014 and achieved promotion to the Torneo Federal A of the following season. In that same year he won his first title in the Liga Santiagueña by winning the Copa Santiago after beating Independiente de Fernández in the final.[4] [5] [6] At the same time, in that season, one of its members went down in history at the national level: Luis Luna, forward, was the absolute scorer of the 2014–15 Copa Argentina.[7] [8]
Vélez de San Ramón lost to Libertad de Sunchales by 4 to 2, in the continuity of Date 11 of the revalidation of the Torneo Federal A, as a result of this it was demoted in category and will play in the Torneo Federal B next year.
In 2019 it begins to participate in a new championship called the Torneo Regional Federal Amateur. Also in that same year, the club achieved three local championships in the Santiagueña League by winning the Copa Santiago, the Annual Tournament and the ReCopa Santiago Winners.[9]
