Ciarán Ahern is an Irish Labour Party politician who has been a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dublin South-West constituency since the 2024 general election.[1]
Ahern was a member of South Dublin County Council from June to November 2024.[2] He has worked and lectured in law.
Ahern was born to parents Mary and Maurice grew up in Rathfarnham with his two brothers. He attended St Mary's Boys National School (BNS) and then Coláiste Éanna. He went on to graduate with a double Bachelor of Law and Business (BBL) from University College Dublin in 2007 and a Master of Science (MSc) in Criminal Justice Policy, Human Rights, Criminology, and Corporate Crime from the London School of Economics (LSE) in 2009.[3]
Ahern married fellow lawyer Maeve O'Rourke in January 2020.[4] [5] Ahern had to postpone their honeymoon in order to stand as a Labour candidate in the 2020 Irish general election, which took place that February.[6]
The couple have a son together.[7]
