Mahogany grew up in Elmwood Park, New Jersey and attended Paramus Catholic High School.[2] He was rated a three-star recruit and committed to play college football at Boston College.[3]
Mahogany redshirted his true freshman season at Boston College.[4] He was named the Eagles' starting left guard entering his redshirt freshman season and started all 11 of the team's games.[5] Mahogany started 11 games and was named second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) as a redshirt sophomore.[6] Mahogany missed his redshirt junior season after he suffered a torn ACL while playing basketball during the offseason.[7]
