Chris Mercogliano Explained
Chris Mercogliano is an American author and speaker who writes about progressive compassionate pedagogy aka alternative education. Mercogliano’s philosophy of teaching is centred on a child-centred and holistic facilitatory co-curatorial approach that begins with meeting a child where they are. Between 1973 to 2007, Mercogliano was a teacher with the Albany Free School, eventually becoming its director.[1] He is the father of Lily Mercogliano-Easton, the director of Camp Wawa Segowea. He is also a member of the Alternative Education Resource Organization and an online educator mentoring people interested in opening their own alternative schools.
