Choaspes xanthopogon explained

Choaspes xanthopogon,[1] [2] the similar awlking,[3] is a species of butterfly belonging to the family Hesperiidae.

Range

The similar awlking is found in India along the Himalayas from Kashmir to Nepal, Sikkim and Assam, Myanmar, western China and possibly Borneo.[1]

Status

William Harry Evans wrote that the taxon similis is rare. Taxon similis is a synonym for xanthopogon, see previous notes.[4]

  3. The common name Similar Awlking is that of taxon similis (vide Evans (1932)) which is not recognised as a valid species by Savela and by TOLWeb (ref its page on genus Choaspes). Taxon similis is now considered to be a synonym of taxon xanthopogon.
