Chittagong Medical College, abbreviated as CMC is a public medical college located in Chittagong, Bangladesh.[1] It was established in 1957 and it is the second oldest medical college of Bangladesh. It also has the second largest hospital in Bangladesh.[2] It is affiliated with the Chittagong Medical University.

History

Chittagong Medical College was established in 1957.[3] Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) was started in 1959, adjacent to the college, with 120 beds.[4] Construction of the present purpose-built, six-storied CMCH was completed in 1969.

Between 150-225 students graduated each year from 2010 through 2015.[5] As of 2019, it had an annual enrollment capacity of 220 students.[6] On August 29, 2024, Professor Dr. Jasim Uddin took charge as the acting principal of Chittagong Medical College (CMC). He succeeded Dr. Sahena Akter, who was appointed as the principal of CMC on January 20, 2021.[7] [8]
