Chionanthus leopoldii grows as a tree up to 13m (43feet) tall, with a trunk diameter of up to 30cm (10inches). The bark is greyish. The flowers are pale greenish. The fruit is purple or red-brown when ripe, round, up to 1.8cm (00.7inches) in diameter. Its habitat is mixed dipterocarp forest from 100m (300feet) to 700m (2,300feet) altitude. C. leopoldii is endemic to Borneo.
