Chilliwack has been a provincial electoral district in the Canadian province of British Columbia since 1916. Incorporating slightly different boundaries, it was the successor riding to the Chilliwhack riding the name of which was based on the older spelling of the name.
Under the 2021 British Columbia electoral redistribution, the riding will be renamed Chilliwack North for use in the 2024 British Columbia general election onwards.
Chilliwack was the successor riding to Westminster-Chilliwhack, which was one of four subdivisions of the old rural Westminster riding, the others being the ridings that became, after similar name-changes, Delta, Dewdney and Richmond, which are the parent ridings of all current Fraser Valley electoral districts. Chilliwack riding lasted until the 1996 election. In 2001 the area became represented by Chilliwack-Kent and Chilliwack-Sumas. The latter takes in part of the City of Chilliwack and Sumas Prairie (part of the City of Abbotsford), while the other includes Agassiz, the municipality of Kent, and the Village of Harrison Hot Springs, as well as a certain amount of lands along the banks of the Fraser towards Hope. Following the 2008 redistribution, Chilliwack was reconstituted, primarily out of Chilliwack-Sumas, while much of Chilliwack-Kent will be joined with parts of the Fraser Canyon previously in Yale-Lillooet to form Chilliwack-Hope.[1]

On account of the realignment of electoral boundaries, most incumbents did not represent the entirety of their listed district during the preceding legislative term. John Les of the British Columbia Liberal Party was initially elected during the 2005 election to the Chilliwack-Sumas riding. He successfully ran for re-election in the newly created Chilliwack riding.
