Cheghalu (Persian: چغالو) is a village in, and the capital of, Leylan-e Sharqi Rural District of Shirin Kand District, Leylan County, East Azerbaijan province, Iran.[2]
At the time of the 2006 National Census, the village's population was 485 in 115 households, when it was in Leylan-e Jonubi Rural District of the former Leylan District of Malekan County.[3] The following census in 2011 counted 450 people in 130 households.[4] The 2016 census measured the population of the village as 466 people in 138 households.[5]
After the census, the district was separated from the county in the establishment of Leylan County. The rural district was transferred to the new Central District, and Leylan-e Sharqi Rural District was created in the new Shirin Kand District.[2]
