Charmeil (in French pronounced as /ʃaʁmɛj/; Occitan (post 1500);: Chalmelh) is a commune in the Allier department in central France.
Geography
Accessible by departmental roads 6 and 27, Charmeil is located 5km (03miles) northwest of Vichy, 3km (02miles) south of Saint-Rémy-en-Rollat, 4km (02miles) east of Vendat, and 4km (02miles) north of Bellerive-sur-Allier.
A weather station is located on the site of the airport, elevation: 249m (817feet).

Culture and Heritage
- Charmeil Castle, which was the summer residence of Marshal Philippe Pétain in 1943 and which was held including a secret meeting between Pierre Laval and the advisor of German Rudolf Rahn embassy minister in August 1942.
