Top stayers in the race prep for Group 3 Premier's Cup at Doomben later in the carnival and the prestigious Brisbane Cup.^[1] The race was inaugurated in 1978 as the Brisbane Amateur Turf Club Handicap with Proficient victorious in a time of 2:05.6.^[2]
