Chaharbagh (Persian: چهارباغ) is a city in the Central District of Chaharbagh County, Alborz province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district.[2] It was the administrative center for Chahardangeh Rural District[3] until its capital was transferred to the village of Sonqorabad.[2]

Demographics

Population

At the time of the 2006 National Census, the city's population was 5,577 in 1,448 households, when it was the capital of the former Chaharbagh District of Savojbolagh County, Tehran province.[4] The 2016 census measured the population of the city as 48,828 inhabitants in 14,380 households,[5] by which time the county had been separated from the province in the establishment of Alborz province.[6]

In 2020, the district was separated from the county in the establishment of Chaharbagh County, and Chaharbagh was transferred to the new Central District as the county's capital.[2]
