Chářovice is a municipality and village in Benešov District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 200 inhabitants.

Etymology

The name is derived from the personal name Chář, meaning "the village of Chář's people".[2]

Geography

Chářovice is located about 9km (06miles) northwest of Benešov and 25km (16miles) south of Prague. It lies in the Benešov Uplands. The highest point is a nameless hill at 356m (1,168feet) above sea level. The municipal territory is rich in fishponds.

History

The first written mention of Chářovice is from 1394.[3]
