Castanopsis endertii explained

Castanopsis endertii is a tree in the family Fagaceae. It is named for the Dutch botanist and plant collector Frederik Endert.

Description

Castanopsis endertii grows as a tree up to 35m (115feet) tall with a trunk diameter of up to 60cm (20inches). The brownish bark is slightly fissured with ring-like features. The coriaceous leaves measure up to 18cm (07inches) long. Its roundish, edible nuts measure up to 3.51NaN1 long.

Distribution and habitat

Castanopsis endertii is endemic to Borneo. Its habitat is montane forests up to 2500m (8,200feet) elevation.
