Carola Prosperi (12 October 1883 – 26 March 1981) was an Italian writer, feminist and journalist.
Biography
Prosperi was born in Turin in 1883 where she worked as a teacher in the Niccolò Tommaseo school. Prosperi also wrote for the magazines Lidel,[1] La Donna and the newspaper La Stampa. She was a prolific writer beginning in 1899 with a series of fairy tales and then working on short stories and novels. Though her novels began with the theme of isolated middle-class women she also wrote for children. She wrote approximately 2,800 short stories and more than 35 novels. Although she did not consider herself a feminist writer, modern scholars do see her this way. Prosperi died in Turin in 1981.[2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11]
