The Caracas brushfinch (Arremon phaeopleurus) is a species of bird in the family Passerellidae.
It lives in the undergrowth of humid forest, especially near edges, at altitudes of 300mto1200mm (1,000feetto3,900feetm) in the Venezuelan Coastal Range.
The Caracas brushfinch was often treated as a subspecies of the stripe-headed brushfinch (A. torquatus), but was determined a distinct species on the basis of differences in vocalization, plumage, and genetics.[1] SACC split the group in 2010.
