Cantonment English School and College (Bengali: ক্যান্টনম্যান্ট ইংলিশ স্কুল অ্যান্ড কলেজ, চট্টগ্রাম) is an educational institution located in Chittagong Cantonment, Bangladesh, near Chittagong Cantonment Public College.
Originally known as Cantonment International School, the institution was founded in 1998. In 2005, it redefined itself as Cantonment English School. The school evolved to offer the Higher Secondary Certificate level in 2010 and, as a result, renamed itself to Cantonment English School and College.[1]
The institution has an annual sports competition with seventy-seven events.[2]
In 2018, the school participated in the 59th International Mathematical Olympiad in Romania. In the team event, they came in forty-first place. Zawad Chowdhury, a student of the school, won a gold medal in 2018; it was the first gold medal for Bangladesh.[3]
The students of the school has have also been acknowledged as active participants of the 2024 Bangladesh Quota reform movement.
While the school section was not able to participate physically for the most part. The students have played a significant role in banter towards it and spreading information regarding the movement. They also actively coordinated between the leaders and coordinators of the movement in Chittagong with those who are on the field. They also raised significant online support in and out of Chittagong regarding the movement-while also informing the country about the successes and advancement of the movement there. The teachers have also participated in online activism and physical demonstrations hence the recognition of the school as a significant part of the movement along with other cantonment schools like Adamjee Cantonment.
