Can Stock Photo was a stock photography provider which licensed royalty-free images, photos, digital illustrations, picture clip art and footage files on behalf of photographers, illustrators, and videographers. Founded in 2004, it was one of the earliest microstock agencies. The Can Stock Photo website ceased to exist on October 1, 2023.
Can Stock Photo delivered 21 million images to customers, provided by 40,000 photographers and artists worldwide. The site supported both subscription and credit licensing models.[2] Can Stock Photo was one of the few agencies in its industry to allow users to license images individually without a membership.[3]
Licensed images have been notably used by industry blogs such as TechCrunch,[4] social media sites such as BuzzFeed,[5] feature films such as Whiplash,[6] news agencies such as CBS 5,[7] and various YouTube videos,[8] [9] websites,[10] and books.[11]
Can Stock Photo received 25,000 contributor submissions per day.
On September 1, 2023, "Can Stock Photo" cessation of commercial operations was scheduled for October 1, 2023.
The stock photo will be changed into Shutterstock and Depositphotos.
