Camerun Peoples (born September 14, 1999) is an American football running back who is currently a free agent. He most recently played for the Edmonton Elks of the CFL. He played college football at Appalachian State.[1] [2]

Early life

Peoples grew up in Lineville, Alabama and attended Central High School of Clay County. As a senior, he rushed for 1,672 yards and 21 touchdowns on 230 carries. He also had a punt and kickoff return for a touchdown.[3] Peoples would decide to commit to Appalachian State to play college football.[4] [5]

College career

Peoples would play five years at Appalachian State, rushing for 2,830 yards and 33 touchdowns[6] on 455 carries. He also added 11 receptions for 77 yards.[7] In the Mountaineers first game of the 2019 season against East Tennessee State, Peoples would tear his ACL and miss the rest of the season.[8] Peoples best season would come in the 2020 season where he rushed for 1,124 yards, and 12 touchdowns, on 168 carries. He also caught three passes for 15 yards. For his performance on the year he was named second-team All-Sun Belt.[9] [10] Peoples would also have a great 2021 season rushing for 926 yards, and 14 touchdowns, on 166 carries. He also added two catches for 19 yards. For his efforts on the year he was named second-team All-Sun Belt again.[11] [12] After the 2022 season concluded, People announced that he had decided to declare for the upcoming NFL draft.[13]

During his time at Appalachian State, he got in the school record books multiple time finishing 2nd all-time in rushing touchdowns, 4th all-time in rushing yards, and 4th all-time in carries.[14]

Professional career

Carolina Panthers

After not being selected in the 2023 NFL draft, Peoples signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent.[15] [16] He was waived on August 26, 2023.[17]

Edmonton Elks

Peoples signed with the Edmonton Elks on February 16, 2024.[18] He was released on June 3, 2024.[19]
