Caenocentrotus is a monotypic genus of sea urchins of the family Echinometridae. Its sole accepted species is Caenocentrotus gibbosus, a spine-covered urchin first scientifically described in 1846 by L. Agassiz, in L. Agassiz & Desor.[1]
