Background

In January 2023, General Motors announced their intention to enter the Cadillac brand into the Formula One World Championship in collaboration with Andretti Global.[1] The move was approved by the FIA but declined by the Formula One Group.[2] [3]

Formula One announced in November 2024 that General Motors would enter the championship as a constructor in under the Cadillac brand, and would enter as an engine supplier at a later date.[4] The chief executive officer of the Formula One Group, Stefano Domenicali, stated that their commitment to the project was an "important and positive demonstration of the evolution of [the] sport".[4] General Motors confirmed that World Drivers' Champion Mario Andretti would serve on the board of directors.[5]
