Bretonnières is a municipality in the district of Jura-Nord Vaudois in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.
Bretonnières is first mentioned in 1154 as Bretoneres.
Bretonnières has an area,, of 5.5km2. Of this area, 2.44km2 or 44.8% is used for agricultural purposes, while 2.53km2 or 46.4% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.5km2 or 9.2% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.01km2 or 0.2% is either rivers or lakes.[1]
Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 2.9% and transportation infrastructure made up 4.2%. Power and water infrastructure as well as other special developed areas made up 2.0% of the area Out of the forested land, 44.4% of the total land area is heavily forested and 2.0% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 27.2% is used for growing crops and 17.1% is pastures. All the water in the municipality is flowing water.[1]
The municipality was part of the Orbe District until it was dissolved on 31 August 2006, and Bretonnières became part of the new district of Jura-Nord Vaudois.[2]
The municipality is located at the foot of the Jura Mountains.

In the 2007 federal election the most popular party was the SVP which received 26.87% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were the SP (22.12%), the FDP (15.29%) and the Green Party (11.91%). In the federal election, a total of 86 votes were cast, and the voter turnout was 52.8%.[10]

The canton's primary school program requires students to attend for four years. There were 8 students in the municipal primary school program.
