Brandýsek is a municipality and village in Kladno District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 2,300 inhabitants.
The village of Olšany is an administrative part of Brandýsek.
Brandýsek is located about 6km (04miles) northeast of Kladno and 17km (11miles) northwest of Prague. It lies in an agricultural landscape in the Prague Plateau.
The first trustworthy written mention of Brandýsek is from 1345, although there is also a mention in Wenceslaus Hajek's chronicle relating to the year 976. Olšany was first mentioned in 1316.[2]
The D7 motorway from Prague to Chomutov passes through the municipality.
Brandýsek is located on the railway line Kladno–Kralupy nad Vltavou.[3]
Brandýsek is poor in monuments. The only cultural monument is the mining tower in the former Michal coal mine from the second half of the 19th century.[4]
